Because when people do general analysis of the Supernatural series,

Dean is usually seen as the character who represents humanity throughout the series. Most of the time, Sam’s been the one who has the superpowers.  

Psychic. Blood powers. Soullessness. For the most part, all Dean could do throughout the series was try to deal with everything on his own, whether it be brains or brawn.

So, yes, Dean represents Humanity,

And Humanity represents Dean.
